We’re telling the story of New Traditional interior design today. And it’s so interesting to see it emerging. The pieces we’re using to illustrate the look come from the new Amber Lewis collection.
Timeless design blended with modern living
Those details. Those turnings. The pulls and hardware. They all certainly call back to earlier design. And yet… and yet… They are the farthest thing from Early American you can imagine. And the thing that really keeps this look in the modern world is the upholstery design and covers. They are very modern. And that surprising blend is what we really love about this look!
Refined by unfussy
This is a really important point. Few people want their homes to be formal or fussy. Rather we’re looking for personal, comfortable, warm… did I say comfortable? So how do you achieve refined, but unfussy? Carefully. Choose with an eye to simplicity. Nothing in the style should feel busy.
Refreshing colors and fabrics
You’ll see a lot of neutral in these room. But, very understated patterns and tone-on-tone fabrics will bring texture and depth to the design. Texture will be a great tool in these rooms.
There is nothing formal about it
Instead, the New Traditional interior design is warm sophisticated and very, very comfortable. And the scale can easily range from large rooms to small. As you can see, there is no clunkiness to these designs. In some sense, it follows on the heels of the very popular mid-century-modern style in many ways.
We’re going to be having some fun with this new traditional interior design look on our floor at BY DESIGN. Please come in and take a look!
