One of the reasons I love my job so much is that I get to meet new people all the time who then invite me into their homes and lives. I got to know them on a personal level, and we worked together to make their home a beautiful place that makes them proud.
The latest couple that I had the pleasure to meet and work with are Jeff and Sue S. Jeff came to By Design originally to get a couple of chairs recovered and mentioned that they were moving to Des Moines from the east coast. The more we talked, the more we realized that their current furnishings just wouldn’t work with the style of their new home in Des Moines.
We scheduled another meeting – this time with both Jeff and Sue. When we all got together, it became clear that Jeff and Sue had different ideas about their style and what their home should look like. We run into this issue all the time. More often than not, couples have different ideas about their home. Since I deal with this so often, I know that the trick is to ask a ton of questions about the space, how they use it, what colors they like, and what textures and patterns feel good to them, so we can find a style/plan that appeals to them both.
After a bit of research, I presented a plan that Jeff and Sue were very excited about. We got the pieces ordered, and once everything was delivered, the house quickly took on “their look”. It’s inviting, comfortable, and uniquely theirs!
This sexy spun bowl is a great addition to their transitional living room. They love this piece so much they are constantly relocating it. Two clean-lined sofas are flanked by a great swivel glider and a super cool leather recliner.
We had this custom rug sized to fit perfectly to highlight the tile work in their entry. The leather and steel bench add to the organic feel and are functional too!
Jeff and Sue wanted their artwork to be the focal point of the room, so we chose clean and comfortable sofas that will always look good next to their expressive art.
