Informed by Art

Deborah teaches art at Iowa State University. That could be daunting for a designer. Or… you could choose to look at it as a terrific collaboration opportunity. I choose option two!

She was looking to refresh her living room. She wanted a modern, sleek update. Like so many, Deborah’s search began online. After searching BY DESIGN’S website, she and her husband came into the store and met with me.

And so the process began. Deborah already had an idea for that pop of color she wanted to add to her space. (Having a starting point – a color, a rug, a print, even a pillow – seems to launch the process!) We layered in more choices: paint color, leather, fabric and finish. The room was coming together nicely.

Our new Pileus Comfort Air chair in Dolce Navy by American Leather gave the room that pop of color she desired — while also offering comfort and style. Adding pattern and texture on her Lawrence chair by Norwalk created a wonderful statement piece. We chose a Carson sofa by american leather (so comfortable!) and tables by Charleston Forge. We look forward to adding art to complete the look for the Pappenheimers.

Working with these two was a fabulous experience. I can’t thank them enough for shopping with us and trusting BY DESIGN with their sleek new look!
