A cherished, long-time client presented Laura at BY DESIGN with a delightful challenge: to create a dedicated granddaughter guest bedroom. What an inspiring way to launch a project! They embarked on a journey to craft a pretty, fresh, and deeply personal space for someone truly special.

The exquisite drapery fabric quickly became the room’s central inspiration. Its elegant leaf design seamlessly combines a refreshing vibrancy with an irresistibly warm color palette. We then decided to carry this beautiful fabric onto a pair of custom ottomans, a design choice that truly elevates the room. The meticulous execution here is quite remarkable, ensuring these pieces are both functional and visually captivating.

An arched mirror masterfully opens up the room, adding that magical reflection and depth particular to mirrors. This thoughtful inclusion also introduces an unexpected touch of architectural interest, a subtle yet significant detail that enhances the space.
These Sutton chairs, upholstered in a creamy boucle fabric, exude sophistication yet remain incredibly inviting. Between them sits a Cella end table, its “aloe raffia” finish lending an intriguing textural element to the grouping. It’s these thoughtful layers that truly define a welcoming granddaughter guest bedroom.

The ottomans’ base boasts a complex design; its solid fabric allows those beautiful lines to truly stand out. Furthermore, the delicate tassel trim provides an exquisite finishing touch, like the perfect embellishment on a finely crafted piece.

To complete the ensemble, the wall art gently reintroduces the room’s primary colors without overwhelming the space. A Jaipur basketweave pattern rug anchors the room, offering a delightful texture and feel. We intentionally avoided additional bold color elements here, ensuring nothing competes with the room’s harmonious palette.
A deeper lesson here might be: If you begin your interior design project with meaningful & personal goals – you are likely to achieve far more than just another pretty room.
