Emerald is making a huge splash in the world of design – largely due to Pantone selecting it as the 2013 color of the year. Of course it isn’t unusual for a color to be big in clothing, but much less so in furniture and interior design. After all, an accent scarf is a much different thing from a room design.
Some of the Emerald we’ve seen is that dark green that you associate with a traditional emerald. But, emeralds seem to vary tremendously: dark to light or yellow-ish to blue-ish. But it is all very refreshing. And that alone may be a large part of the appeal.
Part of the answer for us at by Design will be when we see the new fabric introductions at the High Point market in April. If we see lots of fabric support (greens used either as the main or secondary element in a fabric) then Emerald may well hit the floor at by Design. And, of course, your favorite room.
