The “On Shore” Color Trend:
Fresh colors, finishes, and fabrics for any room
Spring 2015 is all about pulling together sophisticated mixes of color, pattern and texture that make your home both refreshingly of-the-moment and beautifully timeless. Colors this season range from cool watery hues and restful near-neutrals to luscious berries and earthy metallics. Textures — lustrous leathers, heavily textured wovens, and embossed velvets — add incredible dimension and a shot of style.
Dixon Bartlett – Merchandiser for Norwalk Furniture
With watery themes and a decidedly luminous attitude, Norwalk’s On Shore colorway celebrates an abundance of mid-tone ocean hues. From the lavender reflections of early morning to the jades and teals of the deep sea, On Shore plays with familiar marine themes in a decidedly feel-good way. When anchored by limestone gray, these softly outlined patterns and vaporous color combinations present a fresh, clean and calming palette.
“This is the restful side of the navy and white marine palette that is so popular. Blues and whites have been done a thousand ways, but these are softer tones,” Bartlett says. “Many of the prints and some of the wovens are a little blurred. Patterns are lightly outlined, with a sea-like quality. Look for a few underwater motifs, Batik-like block prints and very loose watercolor stripes.”
What does this mean for your home in Des Moines and Central Iowa? Well, if you have a lake, river or other retreat home, this is a natural palette for you. If not, maybe you should consider On Shore to create that sense of retreat, that sense of resort living right in your own home.
